Have you ever been in a situation in your car that required you to go backwards before you could go forward? The only way to get your car in the correct position to move toward your desired destination was actually to go in the opposite direction. How did it make you feel? Were you confused, or angry? Did you get mad at God? Did you question why you even got in the car in the first place?
So often in my own life, I had to go backwards before I could move forward again. I have switched careers 3 different times, and each time felt like I went backwards. As I have grown and changed, there were times I knew that my friend group needed to change. I’d go from feeling like I have a community, to feeling completely alone… backwards.
Then there is God. As he has called me out, he has allowed me to go back to the beginning. The beginning of myself, my faith, and my priorities. This has never felt good. If I am being honest, this was always a very defeating and discouraging feeling in the midst of it.
But now! I can see how going backward was required each time. Much like getting in my car with a plan to go someplace, when the only way to be in a position to get going has been to go backwards, readjust and pivot. I think God is all about PROCESS. All you have to do is look at nature to see that God is not in a rush and that every stage of life and growth serves a purpose.
Even what may feel like a setback in your life, serves a purpose that God can and will use if you allow him to. Accept the process you are in. Trust that God has got you. Keep adjusting the steering wheel to get you in the position to move forward. Once you are in position… press on the gas pedal!

My inner rebel is rising. I am a rebel for Jesus. I am a rebel like Jesus. I want to disrupt. I want to shake things up. I want to wake people up from their comatose state, from their complacency, from their hopelessness. We get ONE SHOT here, one life, one chance to get it right. I don’t know about you, but I feel a massive sense of urgency. While I am here, I want to do as much good as I can with as many lives as I can, as often as I can. John Wesley says, “Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”
How many Kingdom Millionaires can we create here? How many families can we strengthen? How many souls can we saturate with the love of Jesus? How many leaders can we raise? How many businesses can we influence? How many professions can we invade?
It’s time to dig deep. Reposition yourself. And… press on the gas pedal!
